The Fairchester Business Resource
The Fairchester Business Resource, Inc., a Connecticut nonstock corporation, was founded in 2007 by a small group of entrepreneurs to fill a business education and marketing niche they saw in the area. Wilder Baker, Isaiah Cooper, Peter Helmer and Deirdre Silberstein decided to form the Fairchester Business Resource after the demise of the Southern Connecticut Exchange, a similar organization which had been owned and operated by Contact Advocate. Their vision was to create a new organization to serve the educational and networking needs of business owners, entrepreneurs and other executives in Fairfield County, Connecticut and Westchester County, New York.
Education & Networking For Professional Development
The Fairchester Business Resource provides its members and meeting participants with opportunities to sharpen the skills necessary to grow their businesses. Fairchester Business Resource meetings are built around presentations by experts on relevant business issues concerning the growth, management and organizational issues faced by Fairchester Business Resource members and their businesses. Strong, substantive content is the organization's goal for each meeting. Speakers are invited based on their recognized expertise in various business issues. Unlike local Chambers of Commerce and leads development groups, the Fairchester Business Resource mission combines professional development and networking.
Monthly Meetings & Invited Speakers
The Fairchester Business Resource meets monthly for informal breakfasts and informative presentations and discussions provided by speakers invited because of their expertise on substantive business issues.
Typical topics might include:
- Obtaining appropriate financing
- Developing an Advertising Plan
- Determining Pricing for New Product/Service
- Negotiating Office Real Estate
- Making More Effective Sales Calls
- Writing/Revising Practical Business Plans
- What To Look For in a Business Attorney
- Taking on Partners
Speakers are well-credentialed and recommended to the Fairchester Business Resource as excellent speakers and presenters.
We open the doors for our meetings at 7:30 AM beginning with registration, a light breakfast and informal networking.
The more formal portion of the meeting begins at 8:00 AM and our speakers usually present from around 8:20 AM until about 9:10 AM.
We formally end our meetings by 9:30 AM, though the Darien Community Association is generally tolerant of folks continue to network for some time after that.
